The Awakening: awakened at last

October 6, 2006 by Vincent Pryde

“Where am I?” said a voice not quite known by it’s master. “In fact, When am I?” a you man said as he sat up. “Oh man it feels like I’ve been asleep for ages,” he said as he stretched his aching joints “Of course could i really have be-” he trailed off as a sudden quick flash of pain came about his head. “Hey! what are you doin down there?” a small voice shouted. The man looked around and noticed he was half-way in a river sorta lying there. “I was just…… uh…… actually… I don’t know………” said the man. “You don’t know? what kind of nutcase are you?” said the Tarutaru “Jugner forest is a dangerous place you shouldn’t be sleeping here.” she said. “I’m sorry to have worried you, but I must ask you a question.” he said “This may sound strange, but, What year is it?” he continued. “What year where you been in a cave? it’s the year 995.” she answered. “WHAT!?” he said, shocked. “How can that be? how can 10 years vanish before your eyes?” the man asked rhetorically. “Look buddy I don’t know what your talkin about but I’m off to go do some training.” said the taru. “Wait, what’s your name? may I know the name of the person who helped me?” said the man ‘Well I guess, The name is Mysticlight, might i ask yours?” she responded. “Vincent, Vincent Pryde pleased to meet you Mysticlight.” Vincent said bowing. “Here catch.” Mysticlight said as she threw a blue gem at him. Vincent caught it effortlessly and stared at Mysticlight curious. “Hold it to your ear.” she said, so he did. When it neared his ear he heard the voices… Mysticlight in turn held her own pearl to her mouth and spoke into it “Hey guys we got a new member to our happy lil family meet Vincent Pryde all.” she spoke. Vincent moved his to his mouth and also spoke into it. “Um… hello?” he said bringing it back to his ear. “Hello Vincent!” spoke a mass of voices. At that Vincent stared at this pearl with awe. “It’s just a link-pearl nothin special, man maybe you have been out for 10 years…” she said as she began to walk away.

“AAAHHH!” Vincent screamed as he woke up. “whoa whoa there kid, you’re alright, you suffered quite the blow to the head.” said the doctor. “W-where am I?” Vincent replied. “Upper Jeuno this is my Clinic by the way the names Monberaux.” he answered. “Well you have my thanks Dr. Monberaux… Did you see a Tarutaru come with me by the name of-” “Vin!” said a voice from the door. “Ket, you’re all right!” Vincent exclaimed. “Where is everyone, how did I get here?” he questioned. “I can answer that.” said a powerful gruff voice. “Master Tredent, you made it too!” “Well i could be better but yeah i guess I’m alright… anyways to answer your question most of the people that made it out alright are here in Jeuno, and I grabbed you and brought you with me as i fled the orcs when they knocked you unconcious.” he answered. “What about my Mom and Dad?” Vincent asked hopingly. “Well……… Vincent……. I’m sorry to tell you but, they didn’t make it…..” Tredent replied regretably as Vincent started to cry. “Vin……..” said Ketyunis, “I’m sorry… but there’s nothing you can do about it except move on…” he finished. “Why did this happen?” Vincent snapped… “We aren’t the only ones who were attacked Vincent all three countrys were attacked some handled it better than others, but it appears we got the worst of it.” Tredent answered. “What is going on………” Vincent murmured. “A war, perhaps one of the Greatest wars to happen for ages, It appears the beastmen have gained a leader someone called the shadow lord.” Tredent said, “This war will have many deaths but it appears the countries have come up with a plan… We are all to unite, to bring down this reign of the Shadow lord.” he continued. “Will it work?” Ketyunis asked. “We can only hope. “

The Beginning: Escape

“We’re being over taken!” one of the Guards said. “Move everyone inside along with the King into the Escape tunnel!” He shouted. Depressed Vincent complied. “If we are being over-taken then what hope is there for mother and father?” he murmured, “For any of us…” he comtinued. Then he was grabbed and shaken. “What are you thinking Vincent! we have got to get outta here!” screamed a face he knew, “Ket (Ketyunis), your here too?” Ketyunis had been an orphan his parents left him at birth… but he was found and raised by the church. “No time for happy reunions Vin, we gotta get outta here.” they slowly made thier way down to the Escape route which led to the port. They would seek shelter in Jeuno, ask for aid in re-taking San d’Oria. later he would find out that all cities had been attacked, and most over-taken. along the way through the path they heard the castle gates forced open. Vincent knew the orcs would soon find the tunnel and be on thier heels in no time, but maybe they had a cha…. this thought was cut off short as a stone flew and struck Vincent in the head. It was over he thought, he had been struck in the head and would be caught by the orcs. At least he would get to see his parents again… he thought as he lied there slowly slipping into a state of unconciousness but befor he did completely he noticed sumthing. A lone warrior standing his ground and fighting off the orcs, It was Mas…. and he drifted completely into a state of unwelcome sleep…

The Beginning: Sorrow

October 1, 2006 by Vincent Pryde

This was it……. Vincent thought as he awoke to a deafening sound from outside the castle gates. “Vincent!” he heard his father cry from downstairs. “Get up we are being attacked!” He did so and ran downstairs to meet his fathers strong hand. “Stay behind me, we must get to the castle.” he explained as he drew his sword. “I don’t know how far they have gotten already so if I’m caught in a battle I want you and your mother to run straight towards the castle.” Vincent winced, “But-” “Head straight for the castle Vincent i do not want anything to happen to you or your mother!” his father interupted. “Now let us go and make sure to keep on guard.” they walked out into the street hearing the sounds of battle close by. Soon they were running, leaving thier house and everthing they owned behind. They were almost to the northern part of San d’Oria when a stray arrow flew by. “Vincent! take your mother and run i will deal with this one!” his father shouted back as he raced toward the Orc that had fire the shot. Stunned for a moment vincent watched almost wanting to help his father but instead decided to heed his words. He grabbed his mother’s hand, “Cmon mother let’s go we’ll only distract father if we stay…” Vincent said as he stole one last glance back… If he would have known that this would have been the last he had ever seen of his father he would of stolen more than a glance… He pressed on towards the castle running as fast as he could without losing his grip on his mother’s hand. There it is, Vincent thought as he ran towards the castle. Soon after coming close to the gates he was jerked backwards slightly, his mother had stopped. “Vincent, you go on ahead there are people back there dying, I have some skill in white magic so i must do whatever i can.” she explained. “But Mother, Father said that we must run to-” “I know Vincent but if he’s hurt i must help him aswell, now go and take refuge in the castle the guards will protect you.” his mother said as she hugged him tight. “Now go my son…” she said. “Mother……..” he managed tryin to hold back his sadness as she ran towards the field of battle. Vincent felt himself yanked backwards “C’mon kid get inside” one of the guards said, “You’ll be killed if you don’t.” the tears steadily flowwing down his face Vincent nodded and went inside… Never would he see any of his parents again….

The Beginning: Training

September 30, 2006 by Vincent Pryde

“THWAK!” the wooden blades sounded as they came together. Vincent and another student his friend Ketyunis practiced calmly in the small courtyard of master Tredent’s. All the students had gathered and started sparring for the day Tredent critiquing them all the way. Vincent blocked a swing from ketyunis’ small blade and made a thrusting movement and stopped a fraction of an inch away from his throat. “Yield, you have been beaten.” Vincent triumphantly exclaimed. “I don’taru think so…” Ketyunis pointed out confidently looking at his sword to Vincent’s gut. “Good, Ketyunis but taking your opponent with you does not signify victory…” Tredent said from the sidelines, “Now try again you two only lets not end this in a draw, I should expect better from my two best students.” Vincent knew that he could have easily have beaten Ketyunis had his mind not been so…. distracted…. something was comming somthing big…

“Vincent! come on downstairs it’s time for breakfast.” a women shouted from the 1st floor of the 2 level house.  A young black haired elvaan boy rose from his bed and stepped down yawning. he slowly worked his way over to the stairs and went down his long black hair still a tangled mess from sleeping. “Good morning mother.” he said, “Nice of you to join the living Vincent, now eat up you have practice with master tredent in an hour.” she said. “Alright,” the boy said starting to eat his meal. He had been a student of master Tredent’s since he was 5, always eager to learn the ways of the sword, and how to magic to heal wounds. Now 11 the boy hurridly rushed upstairs and grabbed his sparring sword for practice. He quickly ran downstairs and out the door towards eastern ronfaure to the training grounds master Tredent had set up. “I’ll be home around supper time mother!” Vincent called back as he ran into the peacful streets of San d’Oria. But for some reason he felt an uneasiness brewing inside of him convincing him that something was goin to happen soon…
